Currently I am reading How the Irish Saved Civilization by Thomas Cahill. It’s a historical look at how Ireland preserved much of Europe’s records and knowledge through the Middle Ages.  Where’s your bookmark today?

My bookmark is in “Sleepwalking in Daylight” by Elizabeth Flock. It focuses on a dysfunctional family – Bob, a sports shoe designer, Samantha, his wife, 16-year old adopted Cammy and twin 8 year-old brothers. The novel provides insights into both teenage angst and the pitfalls of middle-aged marriage. It is a bit of a downer but according to some reviews, it has a “redemptive” ending. I’ll find out soon!
